India Witnesses Its Worst Locust Attack In 26 Years—Twitteratis Share Chilling Videos

A global pandemic, earthquakes, forest fires, cyclones—2020 has been devastating so far. And just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse than this, India witnesses its worst locust attack in 26 years! Locusts pose a major threat to our farmers and food security because of their strong destruction power. And recently, swarms of locusts were seen in different parts of the country.

This year, the locusts have arrived almost a month earlier than expected. And at least 5 states in India face major threats to their standing vegetables and crops. They were witnessed as early as in April itself in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. As per the reports, Rajasthan seems to be the worst-hit state in the nation. An alert has been issued for Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra as well.

The UN has also expressed its concern on the severe risk these locusts pose on India’s agriculture this year.
