Bollywood runs on the theory that someone’s loss is someone else’s gain. Some of the iconic roles have been earlier offered to an actor but later landed in someone’s else’s lap. The latest story we hear is about Reema Kagti’s 2012 directorial, Talaash.
The film was earlier offered to Saif Ali Khan who was to play the lead in the gritty cop drama. However Saif turned down the offer and the film was offered to Aamir Khan. In a recent interview with a leading portal, Kareena Kapoor Khan talked about the movies as she completes 20 years in the industry this year. Speaking about 2012, she said she had two big releases that year – Heroine and Talaash. She reveals that while her hubby Saif was offered the role initially she was quite amazed at how he turned down the offer. Back then, when the film was offered to Saif, Kareena and Rani Mukerji were not the faces of the film. When Kareena heard the script she loved it and when Aamir Khan was zeroed down as the lead, the diva was offered the movie. She loved the eerie drama for her character and instantly lapped up the movie offer. However she can’t fathom why Saif turned down the offer.
She went ahead and added that she doesn’t understand why her film Heroine didn’t work at the box-office. Kareena had given it her all but the numbers at the BO didn’t do justice to her performance. Heroine, too had some musical chairs playing around the lead role between Kareena and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Kareena had won rave reviews for her performances and both, Heroine and Talaash are regarded as two of her finest ones.
