Sushant Singh Rajput‘s unfortunate death by suicide has created a wave of unrest among all of us. While this did lead to the realisation that mental health is a serious concern, it also triggered a lot of actors and members of the industry to narrate their own traumatic experiences.
Vivek Oberoi is one such actor who came forward to mourn Sushant’s death and said that he knows what it would have felt like. Vivek penned a heartfelt note on his social media after attending Sushant’s funeral. In this note, he raises a strong case against the ones who are often addressed as the “gate-keepers of Bollywood“. He says it is time that the film fraternity truly acts like a family where “talent is nurtured, not crushed“. Vivek hints at how there is power play, bitching and ego trips among the industry folk which needs to go.
Though he has never worked with Sushant, it seems like he felt a strong connection with what he must have experienced. He says, “I’ve been through my own journey of pain, it can be very dark and lonely.” But he voices that suicide cannot be the answer.

Apart from Vivek, a handful of Sushant’s co-stars and friends attended his funeral including Shraddha Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma and Ranvir Shorey. Director Abhishek Kapoor and wife Pragya Kapoor and casting director Mukesh Chhabra were also present.
